VOX LUX (2018) Stream on Hulu. Natalie Portman plays Celeste, a pop star whose success was born from tragedy. As a teen in 1999, Celeste survived a school shooting and was discovered after she sang at the memorial service. With the help of her sister (Stacy Martin) and manager (Jude Law), Celeste rockets to fame. But by 2017, overcome by scandal, her career is in a nose dive. As Celeste prepares for her comeback, she gives in to fits of rage and faces the challenges that come with fame and motherhood. Written and directed by Brady Corbet, the film was chosen as a New York Times Critic’s Pick by Manohla Dargis, who wrote in her review, “Portman’s performance puts an exclamation point on Celeste’s every gesture, word and saunter.” Portman also sings original songs written by Sia.
BLITZED: NAZIS ON DRUGS (2019) Stream on Acorn TV. Narrated by Steven Berkoff, this one-hour documentary explores how drugs played a role in World War II. Theodor Morell, Adolf Hitler’s personal doctor, gave the Nazi leader daily drug cocktails and fed the troops methamphetamine. The film looks at whether — and how — drugs affected the war’s outcome.

CHERNOBYL 9 p.m. on HBO; stream on HBO platforms. In the final episode of this five-part mini-series starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, Jessie Buckley and Emily Watson, the main characters are taking drastic risks to expose the secrets behind the nuclear catastrophe at Chernobyl. In his Times review, the critic Mike Hale said that “the writer Craig Mazin (‘The Hangover’ Parts II and III) and the director Johan Renck take an event unlike any other in human history and turn it into a creaky and conventional, if longer than usual, disaster movie.”
BELOW DECK MEDITERRANEAN 9 p.m. on Bravo. It’s time for Bravo to set sail once again in the Mediterranean. In this Season 4 premiere, the cast’s stews and deckhands are headed to the French Riviera. With a few returning crew members — including Captain Sandy and chief stew Hannah — and some new to the show, the group will have to work together to appease their often demanding guests on the megayacht Sirocco. This season also features the show’s first female chef, Mila Kolomeitseva, who is classically trained in French cuisine. As usual, expect drama, heavy drinking and beautiful destinations.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE 9 p.m. on Fox. The host Cat Deeley kicks off the 16th season of this dance competition show in Los Angeles with the first week of auditions. Dancers of all styles, ages 18 to 30, will try to prove their talent to move on to the next round. This season’s judges include Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, and the guest judges this episode are Laurieann Gibson, Lady Gaga’s choreographer and creative director, and Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval, an alum of the show.
