What’s on TV Tuesday: ‘Chasing Happiness’ and ‘Miranda Sings Live’

CHASING HAPPINESS (2019) Stream on Amazon. Did you hear? The Jonas Brothers are back, and they’re everywhere. The trio — Nick, Kevin and Joe — split up in 2013 when they realized their priorities no longer aligned. Nick and Joe focused on their solo careers, while Kevin devoted time to his wife and two children. “During that time, we started to realize there was a magic that we felt like we were missing,” Nick told James Corden on “The Late Late Show” in March. After a six-year hiatus, the band reunited this year and debuted a comeback single, “Sucker.” This new documentary, pegged to the release of their album “Happiness Begins” on June 7, chronicles the siblings’ childhood, their rise to stardom and the ups and downs that led to their breakup and long-awaited reunion. If you can’t get enough of the New Jersey-born pop stars, a new memoir called “Blood” will hit bookstands in November.

MIRANDA SINGS LIVE … YOUR WELCOME (2019) Stream on Netflix. This new Netflix special doesn’t only feature Colleen Ballinger, the comedian, singer, actress and YouTube star. It also presents a hefty dose of her internet persona Miranda Sings, a talentless teenager with a grating, nasal voice and overdrawn lipstick. Ballinger introduced Miranda to the world in 2008 and has since amassed millions of subscribers. Her peculiar sense of humor is the kind that simultaneously draws laughs and cringes — and it works. (Miranda has appeared on Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and was also the center of a short-lived Netflix comedy series, “Haters Back Off!”) In this one-hour special, Ballinger grumbles about pregnancy, reads from her childhood diaries and transforms into Miranda midsong.

THE OSLO KILLING Stream on Sundance Now. This six-part true-crime series digs up a cold case that has haunted Maria Nielsen Iranzo all her life. When she was 4, Iranzo was the sole witness to the fatal beating and strangulation of her pregnant mother, Anni, in her Oslo home. Investigators concluded that the culprit must have been Minna Treadwell Thompson, an American woman who was having an affair with Anni’s husband. The Norwegian police tried and failed to extradite Thompson from the United States, and the story has remained in the past. Now, more than 40 years later, this show follows Iranzo as she crisscrosses the world to uncover the truth and find some sort of justice.

THE LAST O.G. 10:30 p.m. on TBS. This comedy series about a former convict (Tracy Morgan) adjusting to life outside of prison ends its second season. In this finale — a tribute to Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing” — Tray enters a local food-truck competition on the hottest day of the year. And his story isn’t over: TBS recently renewed the show for Season 3.
